How Booking Works on MyCityHost
What is MyCityHost?
MyCityHost is an online tourist-to-local-host marketplace that connects independent travelers with local residents who offer personalized city discovery, cultural insight, culinary exploration, and neighborhood guidance.
Is MyCityHost a tour operator?
No. MyCityHost is primarily a technology marketplace platform connecting independent travelers and independent Hosts. MyCityHost does not act as a traditional tour operator, travel agency, or transport provider, and does not itself deliver or package the personal guide services offered by individual Hosts.
Who can become a Host?
Any resident with genuine local knowledge, cultural appreciation, and good communication skills who meets our onboarding standards can apply. Hosts must meet the minimum eligibility requirements applicable to their country and destination. By default, a Host must be at least 18 years old, or the higher minimum age required by applicable local law.
How does booking work?
Booking follows a clear, step-by-step workflow: Select City → Browse & Compare Hosts → Choose Date & Time → Select Duration (hourly, half-day, or full-day) → Confirm Booking → Safe Payment via Secure Payment Process → Booking Confirmation with Host. Actual availability depends on each Host's schedule and platform rules.
How does MyCityHost earn?
MyCityHost currently retains a 20% platform commission on completed Host bookings, with 80% allocated to the Host, subject to applicable booking and payout terms. This maintains the digital platform, verification pipelines, customer support, and secure payment infrastructure.
Are Hosts verified?
Yes. A Verified badge indicates that the Host has completed the applicable MyCityHost verification process, which includes identity authentication, profile screening, and review of community standards. Please note: A Verified badge indicates completion of our verification process; it does not constitute an absolute guarantee of safety. Travelers are encouraged to exercise normal common-sense care.
What cities are currently available?
Currently, MyCityHost is operational in Mathura, Vrindavan, and Agra in the heritage Braj and Mughal corridors. More destinations will be added as MyCityHost expands its verified host community.
Safety Guidelines
We encourage all interactions to follow fundamental safety best practices: meet in well-lit, public places; keep all booking payments and communications within the official platform; share your itinerary with family or friends; and contact our emergency or support channels if you encounter any concern.
Cancellation & Refunds
Cancellations made within the eligible advance cancellation window are processed back to the original payment source. Funds held under our secure payment process are released only after the scheduled booking completes without unresolved disputes.
